Two ways to remove a pool
A full removal takes out the whole structure and backfills to an engineered standard — right when you want to build over the area or leave no trace. A partial removal breaks up the shell, drills the base for drainage and fills and compacts it — cheaper, and fine where the area becomes lawn or garden. Which suits depends on what's going over the top.

Concrete and gunite pools are broken up with an excavator and removed; fibreglass shells are cut into sections and carted away. Both finish the same way — the hole backfilled and compacted so the ground is stable.
